Professional Service

​

Other services she has engaged in have been productive for the profession, whereas, these activities help to support the development of knowledge within the field of economics. She has served in national and international research conferences as a discussant and session chair for presentations. Dr. Williams has produced referee reports for peer-reviewed journals and she has served as a panel host for a community discussion at Morehouse College where a co-authored grant from Koch Foundation was used to support and inform the community on reducing criminal recidivism through entrepreneurship. She is a National Economics Association committee member where she helped to plan the 50th Anniversary of the association formerly known as Caucus of Black Economist, led a panel on Black women in the Economics Profession,  helped to develop the logo for the virtual commemoration of 100 years of African American in Economics at the annual ASSA meetings. She was a panel member in the Ph.D. Project’s Finance and Economics Doctoral Student Association discussion on being a tenure-track assistant professor, she has served as secretary for the African Political Economics Association. In these capacities, her support was crucial in facilitating a space where colleagues inside and outside of Morehouse College could make productive advances in creating knowledge.

Divisional Service

​

As a faculty member in her Division, Dr. Williams has had the pleasure of working with colleagues to increase student exposure, student scholarship, and helped students to develop a toolset for post-baccalaureate professional interactions. She has served the Morehouse College  Business and Economics Division as online services coordinator and local Blackboard expert, internal assessment committee for SACSCOC, Morehouse Economics Club advisor, admitted student day lecturer, and departmental student recruiter, as well as Planting A Seed International departmental (PASI) curriculum developer. In such roles she has worked to increase the departmental research profile online, assessed curriculum and set goals for the department of economics in accordance with accreditation standards, introduced students to exploratory topics and post-baccalaureate opportunities, lectured incoming freshman to give them a real classroom experience that would hopefully expose them to the field of economics, and she developed an outline/rubric for an International Development class that allows students at Morehouse and other colleges in Atlanta University Center to visit Liberia for and earn credits toward graduation. As one can see, she has worked closely with colleagues in her department to add value to current and incoming students.

Institutional Service

​

Dr. Williams has been collegial and contributory to committees at the institutional level. She participated as a secretary in the Faculty Admissions Committee, secretary in the Faculty Development Committee, a member of the Faculty Council for faculty governance, a member of the Morehouse College Budget Committee, and student Marshall for convocation and graduation, She also served on the International Spring Tour committee, been a leader in Institute on Pan African Pedagogical (IPAP) Approaches to Teaching and currently serves as Academic Program Director for Economics. In these roles, she has recorded the status and goals of the college admissions office, recorded notes for and deliberated on faculty development activities, served as a member and advocate in faculty governance, organized and directed senior students in the most formal ceremonies at the College, as well as written questions for and deliberated on student selection for the International Spring Tour, which, is an annually occurring international learning experience in the College. She has procured government funding for IPAP, advised, mentored, and recommended students across the college for jobs and graduate study. Also, she has recently been selected to participate in developing a pilot course for the Morehouse College online business degrees. From this it can be deduced, her services have helped to support faculty, the functionality of the college, and the betterment of students inside and outside of her department.
